GALENIKA HELPS THE INSTITUTE OF ONCOLOGY AND RADIOLOGY OF SERBIA
Belgrade, November 22, 2021 – Galenika has donated funds to the Institute of Oncology and Radiology of Serbia (IORS) again this year. It is a national institute that deals with diagnostics, treatment and counseling of oncology patients. Namely, during October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Galenika launched a campaign dedicated to raising awareness on the subject, while allocating funds from the sale of Pantenol products for the planned support. The amount of this year’s donation is EUR 13.000 in dinars equivalent, and the goal is to help the Institute and further improve the conditions of treatment of patients from all over the country.
“The donation is the result of the company’s dedication to people and health care. Our purpose is reflected in quality assurance, and that means the highest standards in production, care for employees and consumers, but also for society as a whole. We are grateful to everyone who supported the action, because together we contribute to raising awareness of the importance of prevention and regular examinations, as well as improving the conditions for diagnosis and treatment of oncology patients, “said Ricardo Vian Marques, General Manager of Galenika.
The numbers speak in favor of the importance of the Institute of Oncology and Radiology of Serbia and the commitment of their medical staff. Namely, IORS doctors perform more than 150,000 examinations a year. Out of a total of 6,125 surgeries last year, one third were breast surgeries. It should be taken in mind that last year was the first year of the pandemic and that, outside of extraordinary circumstances, the numbers are even higher.
„Thanks to financial help, we procure modern medical equipment that we use, not only for the treatment of patients with breast cancer, but also for the entire oncology surgery. We are very grateful to Galenika for helping us in our long-term mission and giving a positive example of solidarity. Every day is the day of the fight against breast cancer and it is important for people to be aware of that. By detecting cancer on time, it is completely curable. “- said the head of the Clinic for Oncological Surgery of IORS, doc. dr sci med Srđan Nikolić during the donation ceremony.
